Prepare yourself for Easter on a sacrificial Lenten retreat in Vina, CA and experience a glimpse of the monastic life at the Abbey of New Clairvaux Cistercian Monastery. Optional day-hike on Sunday, March 8th.
Cost will $25. Packing list will be sent to those who register.
Friday, March 6th
8:00pm - arrive at retreat residence; simple soup supper
8:30pm - Introduction to Retreat: Why go out into the desert? - Fr. Brian Soliven
9:00pm - Stations of the Cross
9:45pm - Vespers
10:00pm - Enter into Grand Silence (to last through Saturday evening)
Saturday, March 7th *schedule coming soon*
Saturday will be a day of silence, personal reflection and prayer, fasting (bread and water only, except for medical reasons) and participation in the monastic liturgy of the hours at the Abbey of New Clairvaux
One of the Cistercian monks will give a small conference mid-afternoon
Sunday, March 8th
9:00am - arise and prepare for Mass
10:30am - Mass at the Abbey of New Clairvaux
12:00pm - brunch in Chico, CA hosted by Disciples of Jesus and Mary
1:30pm - Upper Bidwell hike (optional)
5:00pm - Grab dinner as a group
